San Diego partner Jesse Blyth will be presenting at the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Professional Practice Seminar, entitled "10 Steps to Starting and Growing Your Architecture and Design Business," tomorrow, Friday, March 30.
Mr. Blyth's presentation, "Powerful Design Contracts: Negotiation Strategy & Necessary Provisions to Limit Exposure and Keep What You Earn," will cover topics including the importance of written contracts for architecture firms, successful negotiation tactics, types of indemnity provisions, limitation of liability clauses, modifying architectural duties for the construction administration phase, and specific contractual provisions that should be avoided.
Additional topics covered at the seminar include business structure, day-to-day requirements to successfully run a business, the basics of web and social media strategy, acquiring project insurance, and an HR primer on how to hire outside help.
The seminar will be held at the AGC headquarters, 6212 Ferris Square, San Diego, CA 92121. Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m. and the full session is from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
