
Renata Ortiz Bloom is a senior counsel and member of the Commercial Litigation, Tort & Product Liability, Drug & Medical Device, and Class Action practice groups in the San Diego and Los Angeles offices of Gordon & Rees.
Ms. Bloom's practice focuses on the representation of businesses and government entities in a broad range of matters including complex business litigation, product liability, premises liability, securities, mass tort, personal injury, fraud and breach of fiduciary duty, contract disputes, and municipal liability. She also regularly consults with businesses regarding pre-litigation matters and avoidance of liability, including inspections of products/premises and responding to inquiries by self-regulatory organizations.
Ms. Bloom’s litigation experience includes all phases of litigation, and she has successfully represented clients in federal and state courts and in mediation. She has also appeared before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority ("FINRA") in arbitration proceedings involving financial and securities related matters.
Prior to beginning her legal career, Ms. Bloom gained invaluable land use experience while working with the City of San Diego in the Council President’s office and the Mayor’s Office of Land Use and Economic Development. In addition, Ms. Bloom was previously employed as a professional lobbyist, and provided counsel to several private industry clients in their dealings with government agencies.
Ms. Bloom is a native Spanish speaker and writer, and a conversational speaker of Italian.
