Pro bono is derived from the Latin meaning of "for the public good." At Gordon & Rees, we view pro bono as also being for the good of the legal profession. While pro bono is technically the provision of professional services to those who are unable to afford such services, pro bono is more than that. It is also about the culture of a law firm, a law firm’s sense of responsibility to the lives of the people touched by its work, and the value the firm places on being a role model for positive change. At Gordon & Rees, these are all primary priorities and our commitment to pro bono reflects those priorities.
Through our pro bono services, all of our offices are able to respond quickly and effectively to the evolving needs of local individuals and community organizations that help those who are in greatest need of assistance. The lives of the needy vary greatly and so does the scope of our pro bono services. We regularly assist individuals and nonprofit organizations with legal services relating to housing, tax, wills, contracts, immigration, civil rights, finance, children’s rights, family law, public benefits, bankruptcy, etc., in state, federal and appellate courts, as well as administrative agencies.
