Seventeen Gordon & Rees attorneys in the firm's San Francisco office have been named Super Lawyers® in the just-published Northern California Super Lawyers Rising Stars Magazine 2010. Additionally, seven attorneys from the San Francisco and Sacramento offices were named Rising Stars®.
The selection of "Super Lawyers"® is a result of independent research to determine the top five percent of legal professionals in Northern California. Each candidate is evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement – verdicts and settlements, transactions, representative clients, experience, honors and awards, special licenses and certifications, position within the law firm, bar and other professional activity, pro bono and community service as a lawyer, scholarly lectures and writings, education and employment background, and other outstanding achievements.
To determine the candidates for "Rising Stars®," practicing lawyers are asked to nominate "the best attorneys who are 40 or under, or who have been practicing for 10 years or less." The publication's attorney-led research team independently reviews the credentials of potential candidates and assigns points based on a set of defined evaluation criteria. No more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in a state are named to the Rising Stars list.
